We encourage all participants and staff to carpool when possible to reduce our carbon footprint on the environment. Please visit our Ride-Share Board
to post or request a ride.
By Car
- The Center is located in Colorado,
two hours northwest of Denver and Boulder and two hours southwest of Cheyenne.

in GIF format or in PDF format. - Plan to arrive at Shambhala Mountain Center by mid-afternoon on your arrival day so that you will have time to complete registration and settle into your accommodations before dark.
By Plane
- Denver International Airport (airport code DEN) is the nearest major airport to the Center (a two-hour drive).
- Please book a flight to Denver that arrives before 1:00pm to ensure Shambhala Shuttle availability.
- Schedule your return flight to depart at least five hours after your program ends. For some programs, this may require an extra night's stay at the Center. If you are uncertain when your program ends, please contact reservations.
- Upon your arrival in Denver, take the Shamrock Airport Express to the Fort Collins Hilton on Prospect Street ($32 each way). You must purchase your ticket at the Shamrock Airport Express service booth on level 5 at DEN. Advance Reservations are recommended. Call (970) 482-0505 or visit their website.
By Bus
- Buses arrive at the Fort Collins downtown Transit Center bus station (250 North Mason Street).
- Plan to arrive before 5:00pm, otherwise you will need to arrange for alternative transportation or stay in Fort Collins and we will pick you up the next day.
- Schedule your return bus for late afternoon or early evening.
Shambhala Shuttle
- The Shambhala Shuttle runs between the Fort Collins Hilton and Shambhala Mountain Center.
- We require a minimum of two weeks notice before your arrival date (one month before large programs such as seminary and dathün) to schedule this service.
- The nonrefundable fee is $80 round-trip per person, payable in advance,

Alternative Transportation
- If you arrive before your program start date, or if we do not receive your transportation information with enough advance notice, you may need to find alternative means for getting to the Center or make arrangements to stay in Fort Collins.
- Our Ride-Share Board connects guests who are looking for or offering transportation.
- For lodging, we recommend the Hilton on Prospect Street, (970) 482–2626.
Extending Your Stay
Some programs allow the option of coming a day or more early or staying longer after your program ends. Please check with the call center (1-888-STUPA-21) for availability and daily rates.
Transportation from Boulder
Greyhound Bus line no longer provides service from Boulder to Fort Collins. Bus service from Boulder to Ft Collins is only possible by taking the RTD bus service to Denver International Airport and then taking Shamrock Airport Express to the Fort Collins Hilton on Prospect Street.
